Terms & Conditions
The rules of the road for using BudgetWise.
These Terms & Conditions are a starting template and have not been reviewed by a lawyer. We strongly recommend having them reviewed by qualified legal counsel before relying on them as your operative terms — especially the sections on subscriptions, liability, and governing law.
Effective date: August 18, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using BudgetWise (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Description of Service
BudgetWise is a personal finance tracker that lets you record expenses, manage budgets and subscriptions, track sinking funds and investments, and optionally share budgets with household members.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create a BudgetWise account.
4. Your Account
You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Let us know right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
5. Plans and Pricing
BudgetWise offers Free, Pro, and Family plans with different feature sets, as described on our pricing page. You can change your plan at any time from your account settings.
As of this writing, BudgetWise does not process real payments — plan changes are managed directly within your account and do not involve a payment processor or an actual financial transaction. If and when paid billing is introduced, these Terms will be updated to include applicable payment, billing cycle, and refund terms, and you will be notified in advance.
6. Household and Family Plan Sharing
The Family plan lets you create a household and invite other members. Shared budgets and categories become visible to everyone in that household. Each member remains responsible for the accuracy of the data they enter.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service for anything illegal, to attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, to reverse engineer or misuse the Service, or to interfere with other users' use of the Service.
8. Your Data
You own the financial data and content you enter into BudgetWise. You grant us a limited license to store and process that data solely to provide the Service to you.
9. Intellectual Property
The BudgetWise name, design, and software are owned by us. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our intellectual property beyond what's needed to use the Service as intended.
10. Disclaimers
BudgetWise is a budgeting and tracking tool — it does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Nothing in the Service should be relied upon as such advice, and you should consult a qualified professional for guidance specific to your situation.
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BudgetWise will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post changes on this page with a revised effective date.
